Wind Power Systems in Arizona (AZ)
What is wind energy?
In reality, wind energy is a converted form of solar energy. The sun's radiation heats different parts of the earth at different rates. As hot air rises, reducing the atmospheric pressure at the earth's surface, and as cooler air is drawn in to replace it, the result is wind.
Air has mass, and when it is in motion, it contains the energy of that motion or "kinetic energy". Some portion of that energy can be converted into other forms, mechanical force or electricity that we can use to perform work.
What is a wind turbine and how does it work?
A wind energy system transforms the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical or electrical energy that can be harnessed for practical use. Wind electric turbines generate electricity for homes and businesses and for sale to utilities.
There are two basic designs of wind electric turbines: vertical-axis, or "egg-beater" style, and horizontal-axis (propeller-style) machines. Horizontal-axis wind turbines are most common today, constituting nearly all of the utility-scale (100 kilowatts, kW, capacity and larger) turbines in the global market.

ENVIRO-ENERGIES
Cannon Solar & Wind is especially proud to be on the cutting edge of this new technology as one of Enviro-Energies first distributors.
Enviro-Energies Holdings, Inc., is the exclusive worldwide license holder for the manufacturing and distribution of the patented Magnetic (MagLev) Vertical Axis Wind Turbines™ (MVAWTs™).
This breakthrough rooftop wind turbine system has been geared for residential, commercial and government buildings for urban, suburban and rural settings. Past barriers to adopting roof wind systems were noise, vibration and a lack of a straight-line wind source.
Through their MagLev design, a virtually silent, vibration-free way of efficiently capturing the dynamic wind energy on the rooftops of buildings and structures of all shapes and sizes has been accomplished.
The key technology breakthrough focuses on the magnetically-levitated, virtually frictionless, low-RPM, high-torque-power output and a virtually maintenance-free operation.
Jay Leno, Enviro-Energies early adapter
Early adapter Jay Leno installed a pre-production 10kW MVAWT™ on his Big Dog Garage in Southern California in September, 2009. Jay is taking a proactive role in neutralizing his carbon footprint at the Big Dog Garage.
A short while ago, he installed 58kW of solar panels on one building to capture the energy of the day’s rays in sunny California, and now Jay can capture the wind’s energy round the clock, especially at night when the wind tends to blow stronger and his solar panels are not producing energy.
The vertical access wind turbines are the best in magnetic levitation technology with a start-up wind speed of only 4 MPH. Great for residential or commercial applications. We also carry, 2.5 kW, 10 kW, 30kW, and 50kW models.
SOUTHWEST WINDPOWER
Established in 1987, Southwest Windpower is the world's leading producer of small wind turbines. Their pioneering technologies have made the choice to consider wind power as a renewable energy alternative very simple. Their Sky Stream 3.7 is rated at 2.4 kW and a larger version is under production soon to be announced.
Southwest Windpower’s Skystream residential turbine provides customers with more than half a typical home’s energy needs, delivered less expensively than conventional grid-based electricity.
On windy days, residential systems can sell power back to the electric grid, helping shave power bills further and giving power companies access to clean energy. Products include: Skystream 3.7, Whisper 100, Whisper 200, Whisper 500, Air X and Air Breeze small wind turbines.
